Are your essential oils therapeutic grade?
There is no such thing as "therapeutic grade" essential oils. This is nothing more than marketing hype created by salespersons wishing to make their own products more appealing. And as with many things on the Internet, once one person hears or reads it, many others copy. There is no special processing to an oil which would make it more "medicinal" than say, from ordinary processing.
Can I use essential oils on my skin?
Unless it's Lavender or Tea Tree, I wouldn't unless they are properly diluted in a carrier oil. Even if an oil is promoted to be safe for "neat" use on the skin, caution must be exercised. There have been plenty of people who have experienced or even developed allergic reactions and skin rashes with Lavender and Tea Tree. Many people believe that only synthetic oils are "bad" and essential oils are "good." This is not the case. Essential oils require far more caution than synthetic oils to which synthetic oils have been developed strictly for skin use, depending on the grade. Unfortunately, many stores sell essential oils with little or no documentation informing the public as to their safe use. People believe that because health food stores carry them, then they must be good and safe to use. Essential oils have excellent medicinal and therapeutic qualities, providing a person knows what they're doing. Be careful of people who advocate that its safe to use essential oils on the skin, to take them internally and so on. Everyone's body chemistry is different. Just because one person hasn't had a reaction doesn't mean the next person won't. A person must determine for themselves whether or not they should do this.
Can I take essential oils internally?
Essential oils have been used throughout Europe for many years as regular medicines. However, Danaomi Scents advises against internal use unless you either (a) produced the oil yourself; or (b) you feel absolutely safe with the person you bought it from. I feel very safe with my provider because he GC tests his oils; however, in being a business, Danaomi Scents advises people against internal use. The reason being that inhalation of the oils has worked just as well as internal use. Also, many people tell me ailments which essential oils can be taken internal for which were meant for the herb, not the oil. There have been numerous essential oil publications and websites listing medicinal properties for the essential oil which were copied from herbal texts.
